Mark Cullen

Mark A. Cullen, age 77 of New Brighton, passed away at Our Lady of Peace in St. Paul on February 5, 2015.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, February 10, 2015, St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4125 Woodbury Dr., Woodbury. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Monday, February 9, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676-80th Street S., Cottage Grove and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Mark was born in St. Paul on July 9, 1937 to Patrick and Mary (Gillespie) Cullen. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Cretin High School in 1956. He started working as a painter for the Painters Union Local 61 and later as the union business agent until his retirement. Mark was an avid golfer who loved fishing, ballroom dancing and playing cards. He loved his family deeply and cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One of the highlights of his life was a recent trip to Ireland with his family to tour the countryside and connect with the family homestead.

Mark is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo, Joseph and Patrick. He is survived by his children, Catherine (Gary) Schmitz, Markita (Randy) Jacobson, David Freeman and Tom Freeman; grandchildren, Amy (Ben) Dailey, Cheryl Jacobson, Jeffrey Jacobson and Paul Schmitz; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Blake, Laila and Reagan; brother, Charles (Alice) Cullen, sister-in-law Betty Cullen and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his girlfriend and best friend Sherrill Werre.
