Mark W. Crooks, 41 of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.





Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Paul Park, with the Reverend Greg Esty, officiating. Visitation will be after 8:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Mark W. Crooks was born January 20, 1968 in Cheboygan, Michigan, the son of James Harry and Mary Ann (Campioni) Crooks. He was raised and educated in Hancock, Michigan, graduating from Hancock High School in 1986. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Gulf War. On June 4, 1994, he was united in marriage to Susan R. Tucker in Plymouth, Minnesota. He couple made their home in Minneapolis and in the late 1990’s moved to Cottage Grove. He had worked as the Assistant Garage Manager for Metro Transit for seventeen plus years. Mark enjoyed his BMW motorcycle, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, the great outdoors and was an avid movie buff. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his time with them and his dogs.





He is survived by his wife, Sue of Cottage Grove, three sons; Kyle (Maria) Shepherd of Bemidji, Dan & Michael Shepherd of Cottage Grove, two grandchildren, Kaden & Marley, his mother, Mary Ann Crooks of Hancock, Michigan, grandparents, Harry & Dorothy Crooks of Minneapolis, his sister, Margie Jo (Jonathan) Packham of Hancock, his brother, John James Crooks of South Ridge, Michigan and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & cousins, his beloved pets; Buddy, Scout & Shadow.





He was preceded in death by his father, James.
