Marion Meyer

Marion C. Meyer, age 79 of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Augustana Care Center in Hastings

Funeral will be 2 pm, Monday, February 13, 2017 at Newport United Methodist Church, 1596 – 11th Ave., Newport. Visitation will be 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment Newport Cemetery.

Marion Caroline Meyer was born December 18, 1937 at the family home in Newport, Minnesota to Walter and Pearl (Straube) Euerle. She graduated from Park High School in 1955 and started working as a bank teller. She was married to Dwight Meyer and they moved into their new home in Cottage Grove where they lived for nearly 50 years. Dwight passed away in 2004. Her hobbies included knitting, quilting, cross stitch and anything craft related. Marion was active at the Newport United Methodist Church in her younger years where she made aprons and also created quilts for the homeless shelter. She also enjoyed tending to her garden where she grew her vegetables, lilacs, lilies and roses.

She is survived by son James Meyer (Linda Kubiszewski); daughter Rebecca Shrampfer (Timothy); grandchildren Sarah Escherich (Kent), Richard and Michael Schrampfer and Kristyn Barrington; great-grandchildren, Wolfgang and Gustav; sister Loretta Christiansen. Preceded in death by husband Dwight; son David and grandson Jonathan Meyer.
