Margaret "Peggy" Dopkins

Margaret “Peggy” Dopkins, age 86 of Cottage Grove, passed away March 4, 2019.

Memorial service will be 11 am, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior.  Private interment will be in the spring.

Margaret “Peggy” Dopkins was born May 3, 1932 in Owatonna, Minnesota to Arthur and Margaret (Betts) Carlson.  In her teen years, the family moved to St. Paul where Peggy graduated from Johnson High School in 1950.  She later met Charles Dopkins and the two were married on July 19, 1952.  The lived in St. Paul for several years where they were blessed with three beautiful daughters.  In the early 1960’s, they moved to their current residence in Cottage Grove where she enjoyed gardening, doing crafts and playing the organ.  After Charles retired, they took trips in their motor home to various places with friends.  Peggy was extremely proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed taking time to visit with people.  Her family was the pride and joy of her life and loved spending time with them.

Peggy is survived by her husband of 66 years Charles; daughters Kathy DeMarre, Susan (Doug) Malcolm and Cindy (Gary) Yff; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren as well one sister Betty (Gerald) Anderson.  She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Richard Carlson; sisters Jenny Blume and Joan Brose and son-in-law Jack DeMarre.
