Maegan Black, age 33 of Minneapolis, formerly of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 3, 2016.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at The Church of St. Rita, 8694 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove. Visitation will be 4-8 pm on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment Newport Cemetery.
Maegan Louise Black was born May 4, 1983 in South St. Paul, Minnesota to George and Frances (Auger) Black. She grew up in Cottage Grove and graduated from Park High School in 2001. She went on to attend the University of Minnesota to study languages and the classics. Maegan created The Cyborg's Craft Room, an online hand-dyed yarn company which she operated for several years. She was very creative and learned many of her techniques on her own.
In her younger years, Maegan was a figure skater in high school and continued to participate and travel with the Minneapolis Synchro Panache skating group. She was an avid video game player who loved music, the arts, knitting, cooking and eating good food.
Maegan will be dearly missed by her parents, George and Frances; siblings, George Jr. (Carla), Scott (Wannisa), Peter (Holly) and Sarah (Jason Scherfenberg); nieces and nephews, George III, Jasmine, Emma, Ethan, Gabby, Sam, Phoenix and Isla. She is preceded in death by her brother Steven.
