Lula Karnitz, age 87 died Sunday morning June 2, 2013.
Lula was born October 29, 1925 in Kilborne, Louisiana the daughter of James & Lula (Ross) McMurry. She was raised in Gaars Mill, Louisiana. In 1942 she graduated from Dodson High School. On February 2, 1946 she was united in marriage with Norbert Karnitz in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a longtime resident of Belle Plaine; and moved to Cottage Grove in 1999. Lula enjoyed fishing, ice fishing, spearing, sewing, gardening, crocheting and reading.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Norbert; grandchildren Shelbi & Darrin; and sisters Doyce & Grace.
Lula is the beloved mother of Cynthia (Randy) Den Herder , Michael (Wendy), Cheryl, Christine (Chuck) Alexander; grandmother of Kari, Courtnee & Ryan Den Herder, Joel (Tanya), Jason (Susan), Tammy (Nick) Malfatti, Jeremy (Britaney) Jersvig; great-grandmother of Joshua, Braden, Zachary, Olivia, Caleb, Lexi, Chaz, Emily Joleen, Alexandria, Taylor & John; sister-in-law of Loy Gaar and Wally (Barbara) Karnitz.
Funeral service 11:30 Thursday at Rose of Sharon Lutheran Church, 6875 Jamaica Ave, Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 9:30. Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery.
