Lowell Pommerening Sr.

Lowell R. Pommerening Sr., age 88 of Cottage Grove, formerly of St. Paul Park, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2018.

Visitation on Tuesday, Nov. 13th at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park from 5-8 PM, with Masonic/Eastern Star Service at 7:30 PM. Funeral service 11 AM Wednesday, Nov. 14th at Newport Lutheran, 900 15th Street, Newport, with visitation one hour prior.  Interment Cottage Grove Cemetery with lunch following. Memorials preferred.

He was born August 10, 1930 on the Pommerening Farm in St. Paul Park.  Lowell retired from the Minnesota Department of Highways after 42 years of service.  He was recently honored as a 50 year member and Past Master of Newport Lodge #118, AM & FM; also Past Patron of Queen Esther Chapter, O.E.S. Past Scout Master of Troop 83, St. Paul Park.  He loved the Friday morning breakfasts with the guys; fishing, traveling in motor homes, working in his yard on Portland Avenue and spending the winters in their home in Arizona.  Thank you to the nursing staff in The Arbor of Norris Square for all their special care, kindness and love shown to Lowell. We will miss his smile, blue eyes, soft spoken voice and kind heart.

He is preceded in death by his infant son, Lee; parents Henry H. & Martha Pommerening; infant sister and brothers, Hank, Arnie & Bob.  Survived by his loving wife, best friend and love his life, Lorraine “Lorrie” of 67 years; son, Lowell Jr. (Barb) and daughter, GailLynn (Steve) Scholl. Loving grandfather to AnneMarie (William) Malvin, Justin (Peggy) Scholl, Michael (Amanda) Pommerening, Brandon (Jenny) Scholl, Laura (Bill) Zingg, Kristyn (Dr. Alex) Teeters; special “PaPa” to great-grandchildren Bella, Blake, Maggie, Tessa, Bennett, Violet, Brooklyn, Charlotte, Mattie, Jackson, Brianna and Briella; brother Gene (Leida) Pommerening; sister-in-law Ruth Pommerening; nieces and nephews; many other family members and friends.
