Louise Bertha Holz was born July 16, 1932 in Woodbury, Minnesota to George and Mary (Risch) Heinbuch. Grew up in Woodbury Township and attended country school nearby. She was married to Wilmer Holz on a snowy day in April 7, 1951 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woodbury. Many corncobs were used to get everyone to the ceremony because of the snow followed by a group performing their chivaree traditional. They lived in Woodbury, where their sons were born before moving to Cottage Grove in 1965. Wilmer was a salesman for Pioneer Seed Company, and Louise took on a large part to add to their success. She enjoyed gardening, canning and going on vacations to a variety of places including Alaska, Hawaii, Branson and Washington DC. While her sons were members of the 4H program, Louise was actively involved as a leader.
She was also active at Woodbury Lutheran Church with the children's program as the cookie lady, a member of the flower committee and ladies aid. Louise was an excellent cook who enjoyed arts and crafts. She made Christmas Stockings for each one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 2000 they built their dream retirement house on their existing property which they enjoyed until 2013. For all that she was to her family she will always be remembered as "Grandma Great."
She was preceded in death by one infant son, Wayne; and six siblings Florence, Robert, Rosemary, Freida, Caroline and Harold. Louise is survived by her husband of 65 years Wilmer; sons, Larry (Vickie), Dennis (Renee), Kenneth (Cheryl) and Gerald (Denise); grandchildren, Brian (Jill), Brad (Shelly), Becky (Jason), Bridget (Neal), Nickolas (Shannen), Laura, Valarie (Nick), Jason (Kay), Jenny, Josh (Nicole) and Ben (Jenny); great-grandchildren, Abby, Adam, Haley, Carson, Kendra, Taylor, Nina, Brooke, Clara, William, Matthew, Reed, Reese; brother Herman (Delores) Heinbuch; three sisters, Margaret (Don) Welch, Pearl Trapp, Gertrude Steinbruckner as well numerous nieces and nephews.
