Age 83 formerly of Newport, died on Monday morning, October 22, 2007 at the Southview Acres Health Care Center in West Saint Paul following a short illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Avenue, St. Paul Park with the Reverend Greg Esty officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street, Cottage Grove and one hour prior Friday at church.
Lorraine Catherine Dick was born November 23, 1923 in Inver Grove Heights the daughter of Joseph F. and Julia B. (Jarosz) Zywiec. She grew up
in South Saint Paul and graduated from South Saint Paul High School. She served in the Naval Reserve for a time and on October 7, 1944, was united in marriage to Omer H. Dick. The couple made their home in Newport for many years and Lorraine was employed at Armour Foods. In 2005 the couple moved to Woodbury and in February of this year to Southview Acres. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Park Port Lioness Club and the VFW Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed garage saleing, clipping and shopping with coupons, bowling, playing cards and traveling. Lorraine was also known for her luck at winning when she visited a casino.
She is survived by her husband, Omer, four sons; Richard of Minneapolis, Raymond (Mary Jo) of Afton, Toby (Jean) of Burnsville, Kenneth (Christi) Dick of Newport, eight grandchildren; Christine, Jeff, Monica, Amy, Jenny, Tony, Andy & Scott, four great-grandchildren; Sabrina, Paul, Max & Charlie. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank and two sisters, Josephine and Eleanor.
