Lois Quinn

September 8, 1921 — May 19, 2016

Lois Mae (Gregerson) Quinn
Long-time resident of St. Paul Park, 94 years old, passed away May 19, 2016.

Born on September 8, 1921 in Baldwin, Wisconsin to Hans and Hazel Gregerson. Joined in wedlock to Thomas Joseph Quinn on Valentine's Day, 1946.

She was preceded in death by husband Tom, and brothers Don and Perk Gregerson and is survived by Kay (Skip) Peltier, Barb Malloy, Tom (Deanna) Quinn, and Tim (Sandy) Quinn, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Vivacious in her youth, her college friends called her Greg and she was a cheerleader, and in tennis, badminton, archery, golf, and softball. To her children she emphasized education, music, work, play, and family values. She loved shopping and Christmas and showering her family with presents. She was a secretary for South Washington County Schools for 22 years—a job she truly loved. She enjoyed summer camping trips and weekends at the family cabin, and winter vacations in Florida with Tom where they made lasting friendships—and sent boxes of fruit home to their children.

During the final few years, while Alzheimer's created fictions in her mind, we are grateful that she knew all her people and did all she could. She would beam and hold out her arms to her great grandchildren; beat a grandchild at cribbage; attend large family gatherings and greet everyone there; go on road trips and tell stories; pick apples at her favorite orchard; ham for the camera, including posing on a motorcycle; give advice about saving money; and love us. It was a fall that ultimately brought her down, but she is now elevated to a happier place.

A celebration of life service will take place on Thursday, June 30th at Newport Lutheran Church, 900 15th St, Newport, MN 55055. Visitation at 10:00, service at 11:00. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
The family would like to thank all who have helped and supported Lois. She was a special lady!
