Lois Bock

Lois A. Bock, age 86 of Cottage Grove, passed away July 23, 2016 at White Pine Assisted Living following a brief battle with cancer.

Funeral service will be 11 am, Friday, July 29th with the visitation from 4-7 pm on Thursday, July 28th all at Kok Funeral Home, 7676-80th Street S., Cottage Grove. Interment will be at the Newport Cemetery.

Lois Ann Bock was born January 20, 1930 in Roseland Township near Blomkest, Minnesota to A. LeRoy and Mildred (Tatting) Blomquist. She attended country school near the family farm and later graduated from Willmar High School in 1947. On March 12, 1949 Lois was united in marriage to Sidney F. Bock in St. Paul. They lived in a variety of places through the years including St. Paul, Spicer and South St. Paul. Lois was employed as a bookkeeper for the Ramsey County Nursing Services for 32 years until her retirement in 1993.

Lois loved music and devoted that passion into serving as the music director for Cottage Grove Baptist Church for many years. Not only did she play the organ and piano, she had a beautiful voice and she often sang with her daughters at church. Lois also enjoyed knitting, sewing clothes for the children as they were growing up and family camping vacations.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Richard) Friedrich, Cheryl (Robert) Bates and Barbara (William) Johanson; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sister Ruth (Kenneth) Anderson and son-in-law David Carlson. She is preceded in death by her husband Sidney; daughter Diane Carlson; great-grandson, Jacob and her two brothers James and Larry Blomquist.
