Lloyd Burton Erickson, age 82 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2015.
Memorial service 11 am Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S, Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Lloyd was born April 28, 1933 in Grey Eagle, Minnesota to Chris and Clarice (Barry) Erickson. He grew up on the family farm and attended elementary school in nearby Burtrum. He graduated from Grey Eagle High School in 1951 and entered active duty in the US Army two years later. Lloyd served his country during the Korean War and was a train engineer during his period of service. He returned to Minnesota where he was a cab and city bus driver in the Twin Cities. Lloyd took a job with the City of St. Paul where he worked for the public works department. Ever since he was a young man, Lloyd had a love for the land and enjoyed farming during those years. After he officially retired in 1988, he drove semi-truck across the country for several years. Lloyd enjoyed tinkering and there wasn't anything that he couldn't fix or build.
Survived by his wife Shirley; sons Greg (Peggy), Chris (Tara), Brad (Heather); grandchildren Kimberly Giles, Christina Peacock, Justin Erstad, Breanna, Samantha, Kyle, Ryan, Emily and Aiden Erickson as well as many great grandchildren; brothers Dean (Annette) and Harold (Linda); sisters Audrey (Kenny) Stevens and Norma (Howard Carry) Niemeier. Preceded in death by his parents Chris and Clarice, step-son Steven Jennrich, and step-daughter Bonnie Erstad; brothers Donald and Lamoine.
