Lisa Marie Johnson was born to Earl and Audrey (Thompson) Ohlgren on May 11, 1976 in Edina, Minnesota. She grew up in Bloomington and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1994. Lisa enjoyed every aspect of life. She adored her family, loved her church, and found satisfaction in simple pleasures like dinner at Don Pablo's. She was a sweet, amiable person who always honored her parents and showed genuine love and compassion to everyone she met.
After high school; Lisa attended Bethel University where she graduated "Cum Laude" in 1999 with a BS in Nursing. Lisa met Jason while attending college; they began dating until just before he graduated in winter of 1998. The 2 were married on April 8, 2000 at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Bloomington. Once married; the couple settled in Richfield until they completed construction of their dream home in Rosemount.
Growing up Lisa was blessed to have traveled to places including Hawaii, Mexico and multiple trips to Europe. This hobby continued into married life; the Johnson 3 have been all over the country including Los Angeles, Orlando, Nashville, Washington DC, Boston, Branson, and Houston.
After college; Lisa worked as a nurse for several years crossing various disciplines. She began as a nurse at Fairview on the medical surgical floor. From there she went into Hospice care 1st as a case manager for Methodist then as a staff nurse at NC Little Hospice in Edina. After hospice she worked various fields including the psyche ward, a neurosurgery clinic, and for Park Nicollet in different roles. She scaled back her career at the birth of their only child; Jack.
Jason and Jack, "her boys", meant everything to Lisa. Her caring and generous spirit was such that all her time and energy was devoted to them. She adored them both and was an amazing wife and mother.
At the age of 29, about 18 months after Jack was born, Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery and radiation and believed her battle was over. In March of 2010; Lisa experienced a seizure and was later diagnosed with an unrelated brain tumor. After completing radiation and beginning Chemotherapy; in August of that same year she was given 2 weeks to live! Though the tumor was the ultimate cause of her passing; she was miraculously healed and able to spend another 5 ½ years with her family!
Lisa loved helping people, loved her family, but most importantly she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! She was never ashamed of her faith or her story! She freely shared with anyone who would ask and became an inspiration to many struggling people. Lisa was a true picture of living every day as a gift.
Lisa is survived by her husband Jason; son Jack; parents Earl and Audrey and mother-in-law Mary Johnson. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Loyal and Vernice Thompson and father-in-law Dale Johnson.
