Werner (Church), Linda, age 77 of Woodbury, MN and Naples, FL, passed away Friday after a 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Linda was born in Seattle, WA in 1941, grew up in Bellingham, and attended college at Western Washington Univ. She taught elementary school in WA until she married Phil in 1972 and moved to MN. She then taught violin lessons out of her home and did volunteer work in the schools and at the Friends in Need Food Shelf. She loved to play the violin and viola. Over the years she played with various orchestras including the St. Paul Civic, Kenwood, JCC, and Metropolitan Symphony. She enjoyed traveling and visited many countries. While wintering in Naples she played Mah Jongg, Bocce, and in music groups with friends. She loved being a grandma and looked forward to attending any activities involving her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, humbleness, generosity, positive attitude and deep faith in Jesus.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Phil; daughter Terri (Jeff) Simon; son Rob (Corinna), and grandchildren Thomas, Spencer, and Adeline along with extended family and many friends.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, January 9th at 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM, at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7000 Hinton Avenue South, Cottage Grove, MN, 55016.
Memorials preferred to Naples Music Club, Friends in Need Food Shelf, or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Woodwinds Cancer Center, Healtheast Hospice, and The Pillars Hospice Home for exceptional care.
