LeRoy Nyberg

LeRoy Nyberg, age 81 of Cottage Grove passed away on Friday afternoon October 22, 2010 at Woodbury Health Care Center.

LeRoy was born December 15, 1928 on the "East Side" of Saint Paul, where he was raised, and attended Johnson High School. To all who knew and loved him he was known as Ted.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents Agnes (Saline) & Robert E. Nyberg Sr.; brothers Robert E. Nyberg Jr. and Richard (Agnes) Nyberg; sisters Lucille Nyberg Berman, Charlotte Nyberg Nielsen; brothers-in-law Ben Berman and Walter Niesen; great-nephew Philip Rowe (son of Sandra Nyberg); mother and father-in-law Katie and Cyril "Sonny" Kosek; brother-in-law Raymond Kosek.

He is survived by sons Michael Lee Nyberg and Steven Glenn Nyberg (Julie Halverson) and their mother Shirley Mae Kosek Nyberg; granddaughter Grace Katherine Nyberg (daughter of Steve) and her mother Ann Peifer Nyberg; brothers John (Gloria) Nyberg, Charles (Sharon) Nyberg; sisters-in-law Lorraine Nyberg and Laverne Johnson ; many nieces and nephews. His extended family includes former brothers-in-law Robert & Richard (Sharon) Kosek, sisters-in-law Ruth Kosek, Sharon Lammers, Rebecca Ziesmer.

Member of St. Paul Lather Union for many years. Member of Teamsters Local, Employed by the Fisher Nut Company until his retirement in 1993.

Served in the U.S. Navy (late 1940's) on board the USS Shangri-La and participated in the Bikini Atoll and Operation Crossroads.

Interment Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
