Leona Steers

Leona M. Steers, age 86 of Cottage Grove, formerly of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away peacefully while surrounded by her beloved family on December 8, 2017.

Private family services will be held.

Above all, Leona put God and family first in her life and was devoted to nurturing her children and grandchildren.  She loved to laugh and had an extremely compassionate heart.  Leona loved to entertain and make people feel at home and was famous for creating the best fried chicken.

Leona is survived by her husband Robert “R.D.”; children Cretia (Richard) Weaver, Deena Sweet and Dennis (Liliana) Steers; grandchildren Tessa Hendrix, Stacie Weeks-Ulland, Ryan Mitchell, Jason, Eric, Nick and Jake Steers, Daniela; great-grandchildren Mitchell and Graham Hendrix and Finn and Rose Ulland as well as sisters Luella Hutchinson and Loreta Arnold.  She is preceded by her grandson Neil Mitchell; parents, John and Maggie Hutchinson and infant siblings John and Elizabeth.
