Age 72 of Cottage Grove.
Lela Jeanne Leverty was born September 18, 1934 in Florence, South Dakota the daughter of William & Lela (Denny) Murphy. She was raised on a farm in Florence, South Dakota. On June 25, 1957 she married Harold Leverty in Florence. Harold died in 1999.
Preceded in death by husband Harold ; parents, William & Lela Murphy; brothers Donovan, William, Richard & Denny; Sister Margaret Duran.
Beloved mother of LeAnne Nelson of Cottage Grove, Renee (Mike) Oliverio of Durham, North Carolina; loving grandma of Genine & Michael Nelson, Sophia, Camille & Dominick Oliverio; sister of Holly Johnson of San Diego, Marcella Baker of Fredricktown, MO, Gerald of Watertown, SD, James of San Diego, Harold of Watertown, SD & Wayne Murphy of Hastings; will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, loving friends, and the Tuesday Social Club.
Lee was active in Lions, American Legion & VFW Auxiliaries. Recipient of the Helen Keller Sight Award from the MN Lions. She was an avid world traveler and bowler and bowled in the WIBC National Tournament for 27 years with her family. She collected beanie babies. Worked at Gillette Co. 32 years.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM Friday at ST. RITA?S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 8694 80TH St. S. Cottage Grove. Interment Fort Snelling. Visitation 5-8 PM Thursday at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80TH St. S. Cottage Grove (651-459-2875) and 9:30-10:30 Am Friday at church. www.kokfuneral.com
