Leila was born on October 18, 1926, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Chris Nielsen and Helene Torp.

She met her future husband at the local Medford radio station in 1946 where he was playing the concertina and she and her sister, Linda, were playing the guitar and singing. On July 26, 1947, she and Kenneth Adams were married in Curtiss, WI. They made their home in Medford, WI. They moved to South St. Paul, MN in 1951, St. Paul Park in 1976, Hastings in 1987, and she moved to Cottage Grove in 2002 shortly after the death of her husband.

She loved to garden, bird watch, sew, walk, and eat White Castle hamburgers and Chinese food. Most of all, she loved her family.

Her nicknames, "Laughing Grandma" and "Grandma Goodlady" says it all! What a legacy she leaves behind! She was loved by so many. She is now walking her beloved dog, Bruno, in heaven, oxygen and pain free. She will dance again as Ken plays her a polka on his concertina. She might even play her guitar and sing along while he plays. Keep smiling that beautiful smile. You will be missed and are loved by all of us. Thank you for being such a special person in our lives.
