LeeVal F. Brantner, age 75 of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2017.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at The Church of St. Rita, 8694 – 80th Street S, Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 9:30 am until the time of service. Private family interment St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery at a later date.
LeeVal Francis Brantner was born in Pepin County, Wisconsin to Richard and Lorena (Weiss) Brantner on January 29, 1942. He grew up in Rock Falls, Wisconsin and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lima, Wisconsin in 1960. After high school Val entered active duty in the US Army and was later married to Mary Jeanne Weber on June 23, 1962. They settled in the Cottage Grove area where they raised their four children. He retired from the Metro Transit Commission (MTC) where he served as a bus driver for 34 years. Val enjoyed playing cards, bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, softball and watching the MN Twins and Vikings. He had a great sense of humor and loved to socialize. He was adored by his grandchildren and participated in as many activities as he could.
Val is survived by his beloved wife Jean; children James (Angela), Barb (Scott) Marquardt, Fred (Polly), Michael (Peggy); grandchildren Anthony, Sarah, Richard, Zachary, Megan, Danny, Alison and Charlie.
