Lawrence Stoehr Sr

Lawrence Stoehr Sr., age 72 of Shakopee, formerly of St. Paul Park, passed away peacefully May 24, 2015.

Memorial service will be 7 pm, Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th St. S, Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 4 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

Lawrence Harold Stoehr Sr. was born November 19, 1942 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Arthur and Lauretta (Beck) Stoehr. He grew up in St. Paul and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1960. Larry had always been a pet lover, so he became a licensed dog trainer and judge and was active in the Bloomington Kennel Club. He also led a dog drill team in St. Paul as they visited hospitals to encourage patients. In 1975, Larry was married to Sylvia Spiess. Larry worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance as an agent and manager for several years before operating his own agency, LS Insurance for several years. He and Sylvia purchased and operated Marie Avenue Video from 1993 to 1997. Most recently, Larry worked with the Minnesota Federated Humane Society as an investigator as well as Apple Ford as a shuttle driver. His hobbies included raising puppies, fishing, building things attending the annual Renaissance Festival.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Sylvia; three sons, Tim and Scott Gjerdahl and Larry Stoehr Jr; grandchildren, Logan, Hannah and Ethan Stoehr; siblings, Michael (Nan) Gjerdahl, Rosemary (Charlie) Booth, Anne Haugen and David Gjerdahl and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lauretta; brother Ray Gjerdahl Jr and sister Marlene Davidson.
