Lawrence Dowdle

November 18, 1942 — August 31, 2017

Lawrence “Larry” Dowdle, age 74 died Thursday, August 31, 2017 peacefully at his home with his family by his side.

Funeral service will be 12:00 pm (noon) Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, 8500 Hillside Trail South, Cottage Grove with visitation from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred. Private interment at Newport Cemetery.

Larry was born November 18, 1942 to the parents Lawrence and Theckla (Lang) Dowdle in St. Paul, MN. He grew up on the West Side of St. Paul and attended Cretin High School graduating in 1960. He then went onto St. Thomas College graduating in 1964. Larry was united in marriage to Liane Norheim on November 19, 1966 at the St. James Lutheran Church in St. Paul. He worked as an accountant for the State of Minnesota for nearly 40 years. Larry was an avid sports fan, a “Super Fan” for high school athletics and his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed bingo and was a lover of dogs. His most cherished time was with his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his loving children, Craig (Emily), Dawn, Dean, Judie (Mike Whichello); grandchildren, Courtney (Marc Sonnen), Carter, Teddy, Olivia, Zach, Mariah, Adam Dowdle and Emily and Valerie Whichello; sister, Marlene Lloyd; many other relatives and special friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Liane; parents, Lawrence and Theckla; brother-in-law, Richard Lloyd.
