LaVerne Barbara Leithauser was born August 2, 1935 in South St. Paul, Minnesota to Frank and Polly (Wilebski) Opatz. She grew up in St. Paul Park and graduated from high school in 1953. She was united in marriage on July 10, 1955 in Hudson, Wisconsin. They made St. Paul Park their home where they raised their six children. LaVerne loved to go to craft shows and made White Castle one of her favorite places to eat. She enjoyed Polka Music and watching Wheel of Fortune. Some of her fondest memories are of the camping trips in the homemade bus/camper that Ed had created. One of the greatest things she accomplished was to pass on a loving legacy to her children as they grew up. While living at White Pines in her later years she looked forward to playing bingo and cards with the residents.
LaVerne is survived by her children Barb (James) Allan, Deborah, Tim (Deb), Steve and Jim; grandchildren, Nicole (Dan Mueller), Alexis (Ron Fremling), Mallory, Allison, Kalley Kay, Jason (Katie), Cole, Matt and Kylee; great-grandchildren Olivia, James, Nicholas, Zelda, Isadora, Luke, Nathan, Aubrey, Titan, Zach and Riley; sister Audrey Perkins and brother Teddy Opatz. She is preceded in death by her husband Edward; son Edward Jr. and brother Tommy Opatz.
