Kenneth Johnson

Johnson, Kenneth C., age 81, of Cottage Grove passed away August 20, 2014 at his home surrounded by family.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 920 Holley Ave, St. Paul Park with visitation one hour prior at church. A private family interment is planned.

Kenneth Clarence Johnson was born January 30, 1933 in Hastings, Minnesota to Carl and Meta (Doran) Johnson. He grew up in Newport and graduated from Park High School. Upon graduation he entered active duty in the US Army and served his country proudly, earning the rank of Corporal. Ken was united in marriage to Deanne Douville and they enjoyed many years together raising their five children. Ken took a job at Western Electric and was able to work his way up in the company. He was highly sought out for his expertise and travelled throughout the upper Midwest until his retirement after 35 years.

Ken's hobbies included assembling model airplanes, trains and boats. He loved to add intricate details and enjoyed remotely driving them whenever he could. Ken also built a grandfather clock. He took many family trips and camping excursions with his family and friends to a variety of locations in the USA.

Ken is survived by his children, Anna, Cindy (Dan Gronert), David (Ruth) and Brenda (Mario Wach); 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Bob Johnson and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Deanne of 38 years, son Scott, parents Carl and Meta and sister Shirley.
