Kathlyn Underwood

Kathlyn "Nan" Underwood, age 101 of Inver Grove Heights, formerly of Albion, Michigan, passed away April 17, 2016 at Woodlyn Heights in Inver Grove Heights.

A memorial service will be 11 am, Friday, April 22, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. A private interment will be held at a later date at Albion Memory Gardens in Albion, Michigan.

Kathlyn was born May 5, 1914 in Albion, Michigan to Emil and Elizabeth (Kopp) Thurow, the oldest of three children. She grew up in Albion and graduated from high school in 1932. She married Burton Underwood in 1938. She loved to feed stray cats, take care of floral and vegetable gardens and was very active at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Albion. At the age of 90, Kathlyn moved to Minnesota to be near her family.

She is survived by her son David (Margaret); granddaughters Maria (Dean) Gathje, Dr. Suzanne (Jason) Pauly; great-grandchidren, Sarah, Molly, Anna, Joseph, Carrie and Michael; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister Doris Petroski and brother Raymond Thurow.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Woodlyn Heights Health Care Center for their care over the past several years.
