Kathleen Winters, 60, of Grey Cloud Island, died Thursday after a brief illness. A noted writer and aviation historian, she published articles in several magazines and authored the well-received Anne Morrow Lindbergh: First Lady of the Air . Her second book, Amelia Earhart: The Turbulent Life of an American Icon will be published in November by Palgrave Macmillan. Kathleen was also an accomplished glider pilot and held numerous state and local soaring records. She is survived by her husband Jim Hard and daughter Claire Winters. A memorial service will be held 2-4pm Thursday, August 26 at KOK Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park, MN 55071. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
