Age 78 of White Bear Lake, formerly of Cottage Grove. Went to be with her Lord and Savior upon passing away peacefully on November 10, 2023, after a valiant battle with Alzheimer's. Preceded in death by parents Elmer and Doris DeYoung, niece Karen DeYoung, son-in-law Jason Clausen, brother David DeYoung, nephew Todd Bracher and brothers-in-law Richard and Thomas Bracher. Kathy was born in Baldwin, Wisconsin in 1946, and moved to Minneapolis following graduation from Baldwin-Woodville High School in 1964. She enrolled in business college which led to her many years in employment as tax secretary and administrative support positions within the financial industry until she retired in 2000. She met Christian in 1971 and they married later that year. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1974 where she was active at Zion Lutheran Church and sang in the choir. Sharing her love for music, she sang for many years at local senior living facilities with the Cottage Grove Senior Center Red Hat Women's choir. She loved being with people and especially with her treasured grandchildren. Kathy was a Hallmark movies aficionado, watching innumerable Hallmark movies at Christmas. And she loved the Christmas season starting with Christmas in July. She also loved to travel and spend time in Bemidji with family each year. She was loved by everyone that knew her and always tried to help others. Kathy will be missed. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Woodbury Health Care Center for their care of Kathy. Services will be held Monday, November 27, at 11:00 with one hour visitation preceding the service at All Saints Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Boulevard, Cottage Grove, MN 55016.
