Kathey Vogel

Kathey J. Vogel, age 65 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on September 2, 2017.

Memorial service will be 11:00 am Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 - 80th Street S, Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Private interment will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Kathey Joyce Vogel was born June 6, 1952, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ralph and Adeline (Ansier) Kusch. She grew up in Milwaukee the 4th of 7 children and graduated from South Division High School in 1970. Kathey met Brian Vogel the following year and they were married on April 29, 1972. They lived on Mineral Street in Milwaukee for a few years until they purchased a bar and named it Vogel’s Great Escape. They moved to Mukwonago, Wisconsin where they lived on Lake Beulah until 1983 when they relocated to Cottage Grove, Minnesota. Kathey worked at Kmart and JcPenney and also operated her own cleaning business for many years. Most recently she served as a therapy aid at Woodbury Care Center. Kathey loved being outdoors enjoying the sun, whether it was on the jet ski, boating or gardening. She enjoyed going on cruises to Mexico or the Virgin Islands or any place with sun and sand. Kathey loved her grandchildren and looked forward to attending as many of their sporting events as she could.

Kathey is survived by husband Brian; children Tracy (Darrick) Brakemeier and Justin; grandchildren Jordan, Kalynn, Dylan, Megan and Ava; siblings Nancy (Ernie) Akers, Larry (Mary) Kusch, Karen (Charles) Wentz and Mary (Stuart) Vogel. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Gary and Jim Kusch.
