Karen Schottmuller, of Newport, MN, age 84, passed away in her sleep Friday, March 15, 2024. Karen was born in St. Paul, MN. Married her husband on November 6,1959 and started their life together in Rockford, IL where she had her eldest daughter. They moved to Stewartville, MN for a short while before buying a home down the street from Schottmuller homestead in Newport. Eventually moving to the Schottmuller homestead with their three children. Karen was a member at United Methodist Church of Newport, where she served as a trustee. Karen’s love of gardening was admired by neighbors, friends and church congregation alike.

Karen was preceded in death by husband, Lee Schottmuller; daughter, Ruth and her husband David Johnson; brothers, LaVern and Richard Tessmer; and sister, Charlene Sigsworth. Survived by her daughter, Tara and son, Joel and wife Sue. Karen’s sister, Sharon & (Dennis); and brothers, Ron and Regi; and three brothers-in-law, Robert & (Birdie), Steve & (Pauline), and Jeff & (Brenda); along with multiple grandchildren; great grandchildren; and friends.

Graveside Service- 12:30 PM, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Newport Cemetery, Newport, MN with luncheon to follow at 1:30 PM, Carbone's Kitchen & Pub, 7155 Jorgensen Lane S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016. All are welcome to join and celebrate Karen's legacy.
