June Mueller, age 93 of Cottage Grove, passed away November 12, 2019.
Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Sunday, December 8, 2019 at All Saint’s Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd, Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or All Saints Lutheran Church in Cottage Grove. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jeffrey Nelson and Dr. Wojciech Zukowski for their dedicated care and also to the staff at HealthEast Hospice for their loving support and kindness.
June Isabel Mueller was born June 5, 1926 in Chisago City, Minnesota to Alfred and Rose (Lifgren) Shoquist. She grew up on a farm and graduated from Chisago City High School in 1944. June moved to St. Paul where she ended up meeting Gordon Mueller while on a brief stay from the military. They were married on June 15, 1946 and for the first several years they lived in various cities on the East Coast, Cuba and New Richmond, Wisconsin before settling in Cottage Grove in 1960. June loved being a mom and enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting and reading. She worked at a few places including Fritz’s Candy, Torit, and the State of Minnesota through the years. She and Gordon enjoyed camping, square dancing and ballroom dancing, card club and spending time by the lake at their cabin. They enjoyed traveling to a variety of places including numerous places in the USA, Hawaii and Scandinavia, and spending the winter months in Arizona and Texas. She enjoyed watching the MN Twins and stayed active at church with Bible Study, Altar Guild, various bake sales and funeral luncheons. Her family was her number one priority and she loved spending time watching and nurturing her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children Michael (Betsy) Mueller, Diane (Ron) Schueller and Thomas (Gayle) Mueller; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Joan as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gordon; parents Alfred and Rose and brothers Vernon and Milan Shoquist.
