Joyce Rogers

Joyce J. Rogers (Pitcher) 76 of Cottage Grove died peacefully on April 8, 2017. Joyce was born May 28, 1940 to Keith & Carol (Wakefield) Pitcher in Bangor, Michigan. She grew up south of Chicago, Illinois in Oak Lawn, graduating from high school there in 1958. Joyce worked for Blomberg Clinic in St. Paul and while working there a few of her co-workers set her up with Loren Rogers; they married on September 8, 1962 at St. James Lutheran Church in West St. Paul. They settled in Cottage Grove in 1964 and raised their family. During Joyce's career she worked for the Director of Research at Control Data, the Director of Nursing at Bethesda Hospital, and was the Chairwoman for District 56 for three years. Joyce enjoyed sewing, embroidering, gardening, cooking, and was active at Lighthouse Baptist Church and St. James Lutheran Church.
She is survived by husband of 55 years, Loren; children, Kathleen (Roger) Rankin, Kevin;grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, Hunter, and Chloe; siblings Ann Seban, Bob (Maria) Pitcher, Gordon (Nancy) Pitcher; many other relatives and friends. Funeral service 11 am, Saturday, April 15 at Lighthouse Baptist Church (9979 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) with visitation starting at 10am. Interment Acacia Park Cemetery, Mendota Heights.
