Joseph “Sonny” L. Sherry, 84, passed away on Sunday morning, October 26, 2008 at the Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury following a lengthy illness.

Street, Cottage Grove with there will be a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m., Thursday at church. Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery in Hastings.
Joseph L. Sherry was born January 7, 1924 in Hastings, Minnesota the son of Joseph M. and Florence (Wortman) Sherry. He was raised and educated in Hastings graduating from Hastings High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and fought in World War II in the Battle of the Bulge. He was united in marriage to Irene M. Fritzke on January 22, 1944 at Fort Knox Kentucky. He worked for the Ford Motor Company for 32 years retiring in 1980. Following his retirement he drove a school bus for the South Washington County School District for many years. In the early 1990’s the couple moved to Woodbury. He was extremely proud of his family, country and faith. He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, VFW 8752 of Cottage Grove and the Nelson-Lucking American Legion Post 47 of Hastings.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene of Woodbury, three daughters; Tami (Dennis) Mitchell of Newport, Dawn (Donn) Sorenson, Loretta Ann (Jerry) Lee all of Cottage Grove, his son, Joe (Teresa) Sherry of Brooklyn Park, 11 grandchildren; Joy (Jeff), Brian (Jenn), Nathan, Mason (Laura), Meghan, Desiree (Justin), Ellen, Ben, Rachael, Matt & Luke, 4 great-grandchildren; Nikolas, Jack, Cooper & Makenzie, his brother; Jack Sherry of Prescott, two sisters; Marion Schickling of Prescott& Lucille Foster of Hastings, his sister-in-laws; Pat & Bernie Sherry and brother-in-law, Phil Juneau.
He was preceded by his brothers; Tom & Don and sisters, Elsie & Lorraine.
