Age 89 of Newport on Wednesday morning March 21, 2007 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Joseph Michael Ostrowski was born December 25, 1917 in St. Paul the son of Michael & Hannah (Dooley) Ostrowski. He was raised in St. Paul. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He retired in 1981 from Ashland Refinery in St. Paul Park. He served as Newport Chief of Police; and continued working for the Newport Public Works. He was an all-around handyman.
Beloved husband of Rita (nee Parenteau); loving father of Michael of Newport, Patrick (Patti Staples) of Cottage Grove, Joselle of Newport, Michele (Dwayne) Couillard of St. Paul; grandfather of Kristen (Ben) DeGree of Hudson, Wisconsin, Michael of Newport. Preceded in death by brother Philip (Peggy).
Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Monday March 26 at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 920 Holley, St. Paul Park. Interment church cemetery. Visitation 5-8 PM Sunday at KOK FUNERAL HOME. 1201 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park (651-459-2875) and 10-11 AM Mon. at church. WWII Veteran. Memorials preferred to MS Society, Newport DARE Program and the Parkinson Foundation.
