Jon Heille

Jon A. Heille, age 71, of Cottage Grove, passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 18, 2019.

Jon was born February 1st,1948 in Fargo, ND and raised in Comstock,MN. He attended Barnesville High School. He joined the Navy at the age of 17, where he served for three and a half years during the Vietnam War. His first job out of the Navy was with Mid-America Steel where he worked there for 20 years. He was a jack of all trades. He learned many new skills to take care of his family. He even went back to school to earn his accounting degree and he kept books for a few companies in the Fargo area.

Jon was an avid woodworker. He enjoyed working with his hands to build furniture. When he retired due to health issues he was able to keep up with woodworking but on a smaller scale like carvings, scroll work, and carving beautiful walking canes.

He also enjoyed spending time with family, he had a great love of animals that he passed down to his children and grandchildren. Jon was a sweet gentle soul that loved seeing people happy and enjoying life. He was a very supportive husband, dad, best father-in-law ever, grandpa, and friend. He was always there to lend a hand, listen, or make a joke to lighten the mood. He had a dry witty sense of humor and he will be missed greatly by many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl Heille and Myrtle Andrews.

Jon is survived by his wife, Reniah; children, Amy (Elijah), Chad; grandchildren, Tony, Sarah, and William; siblings, Fred (Ellen) Heille, Betty Mauseth, Sonja Heille, Luke (David) Wagner; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 9-11:30 AM at the VFW, Cottage Grove on Monday, July 29, 2019. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
