John Paul Hileman, age 56, of Cottage Grove, MN, formerly of St. Paul Park & Stillwater passed away unexpectedly from a heart condition on May 1, 2024 and went to our Father in Heaven.
Memorial Service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S.; Cottage Grove, MN with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. All are invited to a luncheon following service and interment to be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery 920 Hastings Ave.; St. Paul Park, MN.
John was born on August 1, 1967 to Paul and Dolores (Matzke) Hileman. He grew up in St. Paul Park but spent the majority of his life in Stillwater, MN. John worked as a security officer for much of his working years. He also actively volunteered when and wherever he could in the community. John adopted a fire hydrant located on the corner of Griggs and Dayton in St. Paul. He took pride in keeping it clear of snow and debris providing easy access for firefighters if needed. He was also known to have a soft heart for all animals.
John's true affinity was for all things of 'authority' and had the greatest respect for police, firemen or people of service. He was always quick and ready to lend a hand in an emergency. John was even honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for his support of the St. Paul police for his assistance in a citizen's arrest. Without the limitations of his disability, he absolutely would have been working alongside those in public service that he so admired.
John is survived by sisters Joyce Graves, Cathy (John) Weninger and Vicki (Andy) Weller; brother Bob (and partner Jeremy Pelegrin) Hileman; nephew Brian Weller; and niece Nicole Weller. He is preceded in death by parents, Paul and Dolores Hileman.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all who provided the wonderful care for John at Royal Age Assisted Living.
