John Edward Brown, 81 of Cottage Grove, died peacefully on October 7, 2016. Preceded in death by wife, Lori; children, Robert (Kim), Roger (Jane), Ronald (Sandy), Rodney (Susan); grandchildren, Eric, Matt (Sara), Jason, Ryan (Nicole), Megan (Brent) Anderson, Kristine; great grandchildren Wyatt, Monroe and Izzy; brother, Roy (Sherri); other relatives and friends. Memorial service 2 Monday, Oct. 17 at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th St. S. Cottage Grove) with visitation starting at 1pm.
John was born March 21, 1935 to Lester and Alice (Johnson) Brown in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. He grew up in Ellsworth and worked as a machine inspector in Western Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota. He had a passion for race cars and met his wife Lori Koerner while spectating at a race. They settled in Cottage Grove and raised their family there. John enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and being a race car owner.
