John Frances Biron

John Biron, age 80, of Cottage Grove, MN passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 13, 2024.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM on Friday, August 23, 2024 at St. Rita's Catholic Church 8694 80th St. St., Cottage Grove, MN with a Visitation an hour before the service from 9-10 AM. Private interment will take place in Old Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet, MN.

John was born February 8, 1944 to Bernard and Gertrude (nee: Nordstrom) Biron in Hibbing, MN. He graduated from Proctor High School in Proctor, MN. John was married to the love of his life Gail Mills in January of 1969. He worked as a Millwright at Georgia Pacific (Superwood) in Duluth, MN retiring in 2006 after more than 35 years.

Through the years John has enjoyed car shows, coins, collecting sports memorabilia, the Men's Club and old school Rock n Roll. As his daughter, Jill was growing up he was right in the center of it all as a sports coach. In his spare time John was a Minnesota sports enthusiast to the core, always following the Vikings closely to cheer them on to the next Superbowl. A favorite outing for him most recently, would be the local Park Cafe to have the best biscuits and gravy around. He was also an active member of St. Rita's Catholic Church. John's most treasured times were spent with family especially his precious granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by all. 

John is survived by his wife Gail (nee: Mills) Biron; daughter Jill (Brian) Korpi; grandchildren Hannah and Olivia and siblings Bernadine Kubiak, Patricia Johnson, Jeanne Yunk and Richard "Dick" (Jackie) Biron. He is preceded in death by parents Bernard and Gertrude Biron; brother Jimmy Biron; and three brothers-in-law Bill Johnson, Leroy Yunk and Ed Kubiak.
