Joel C. Ahrens (born June 27, 1957), age 64, of Cottage Grove (formerly of Inver Grove Heights) was united with Christ on November 15, 2021.
Visitation 10 AM and with Funeral Service beginning at 12 PM, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at St. Luke Lutheran Church (7000 Hinton Ave, Cottage Grove), with interment for immediate family only at Cottage Grove Cemetery. Please join us for lunch immediately following the service at American Legion (328 Broadway Ave, St. Paul Park).
Joel was the most loving son, brother, dad, and grandpa, and he selflessly took care of everyone around him. He was a loyal friend to all who knew him. He taught by example to enjoy life and live every day with optimism and enthusiasm. He was often heard saying, "Let's make it a great day!"
Until Joel retired, he was a long-time store manager and salesman at Performance Pool & Spa, and he truly enjoyed his work. He loved being active which included golfing, hunting, fishing, and bowling, but his true passion was making memories by spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, a storyteller, and master prankster who was always game for a good laugh.
Joel's positive energy was contagious. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched with his acts of kindness.
Joel is survived by his children Jaime (Daniel) and Michael (Jenaca), grandchildren Alyssa, Drew, Chase, and Ava, father Charles, brothers Cory (Danita), Todd (Gretchen), and Bryan, nieces Christa (Regan) and BryAnna, nephew Joseph, and many amazing friends, especially Kelly Jarosz.
Joel is greeted in Heaven by his mother JoAnn and brother Jeffrey.
Our deepest gratitude goes to Dr. Cabuay, Emily, and team at Minneapolis Heart Institute and Abbott Northwestern Hospital, Dr. Lemma and team at Minnesota Oncology Woodbury, Cottage Grove and Woodbury EMT, and the team at United Hospital.
