Joann "Jo" Loetz

Joann Loetz, at 72 of Hastings, formerly of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully at home on February 24, 2022.

Private memorial services will be held.

Joann “Jo” Jeanette Loetz was born April 6, 1949 in Forest Lake, Minnesota to Irving and Clara Hawkins. She spent most of her early years in St. Paul before moving to Windom, Minnesota where she graduated from high school in 1968.  She went on to further her education with a degree in commercial art from the Minnesota Vocational Technical School in Mankato.

While Jo was working at a local café in Windom, she met the love of her life, Theodore “Teddy” Loetz.  They were united in marriage on February 27, 1971 and lived in Hastings for several years before moving to Cottage Grove.  She loved being actively engaged in her children’s lives and was known as an encouraging, creative and loving mom.  Her love for children lead her to opening up her home for child care and also became active in the local ECFE program for many years.

The creative side of Jo came out in her love for interior design, being a passionate collector of things and also in making clothes and costumes for her kids.  Through the years, Jo developed deep, abiding  friendships and nurtured a steadfast faith in God.  She will be missed by many, but had a hope that made her look forward to celebrating her new life with Jesus.

She is survived by her husband Ted; son Travis (Amy) and their children Grace and Lily; daughter Taven (Chris) and their children Lexi and Holly.  She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings.
