Joanne E. Oswald, 79 of Newport, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at her home following a lengthy illness.
A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. at Kok Funeral Home, Saint Paul Park. Burial will be at a later date in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Joanne E. Oswald was born June 14, 1929 in South Saint Paul, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Edith (Anderson) Jacobsen. She grew up in the Saint Paul area and graduated from Mechanical Arts School. She was united in marriage to Don Burr in 1948, the couple later divorced. She married Robert Noles in 1953, they made their home various locations as he served in the military. Following his death in the early 1960’s, she made her home in Newport. She married Eugene Oswald on September 27, 1980, the couple continued to make their home in Newport. He passed away in 1998. Joanne enjoyed baking, gardening and her pets.
She is survived by her sons; Rick Burr of Tennesse, Duane (Cindy) Noles of South Saint Paul, daughters; Robyn (Al) Wahlin of Big Fork, MN, & Karen (Brian) Elshaug of Newport, daughter-in-law, Debra Burr, 15 grandchildren; Candice, David Jr., Sommer, Matt, Josh, Ricky, Rachel, Bob, Renee, Tina, Rick Jr., Jason, David Jr., Steven, John & many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Oswald, son, David & granddaughter, Kimberly.
