Joanne Feesl

Joanne Arlene Feesl, age 84 of Cottage Grove, passed away January 4, 2019.

Memorial service will be 10:30 am, Thursday, January 10, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior.  Burial will take place at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

Joanne Arlene (Birkeland) Feesl was born January 17, 1934 in Gonvick, Minnesota to Edgar and Florence (Eiken) Birkeland.  She graduated from Park High School in 1953 and went on to work at 1st National Bank.  Joanne was married to Jerome Albert Feesl in 1957 and their union was blessed with a daughter, Julie and son, John.  They went on several family vacations through the years and toured much of the United States.  She was often found preparing food, whether it was gardening, canning, baking or cooking.  Joanne enjoyed bowling, sewing and “coffee clutching” with friends and family.  In her later years she was delighted to be the grandmother of 3 beautiful grandchildren.

Joanne is survived by her husband Jerome; daughter Julie McCabe; son John; granddaughters Cari Graber-Feesl, Shelby and Sara McCabe; four brothers Marvin (Sandy), Raymond (Kathy), Carroll (Noreen), Glenn (Brenda) all Birkeland; sister Janice Birkeland; sister-in-law Gerry Birkeland and many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; brother David Birkeland Sr. and sister Norma Snider.
