JoAnn Lois Kasa

JoAnn Kasa, age 91, of Cottage Grove passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Funeral service will be at 11 AM on Monday, December 9, 2024 at Newport Lutheran Church, 900 15th Street; Newport, MN with a visitation from 10-11 AM with a luncheon following service. Interment will take place at Cottage Grove Cemetery in Cottage Grove, MN.

JoAnn was born May 20, 1933 to Nels and Luella (Hukee) Raabolle in Nerstrand, Minnesota. She was united in marriage on January 28, 1951 to Austin Kasa. They eventually made their lifelong home in 1958 to raise their family in Cottage Grove. JoAnn worked for many years at the Farm Credit Services. 

JoAnn was known as a social butterfly and could visit with just about anyone. Her list of favorites included going out to eat (especially breakfast at the North Pole Restaurant), long drives to enjoy scenery and find deer along the way and enjoying flowers of all kinds. She always looked forward to her frequent trips to Hawaii, a favorite place of hers. JoAnn's heart was spending time with her family.

JoAnn is survived by her children Richard (Diana), Patricia Baron and Craig; grandchildren Christopher (Kirstin) Kasa, Eric (Heather) Kasa, Rachel (Tommy) Lofgren; Jonathan Baron, Amanda (Dave) Copeland, Daniel Baron, Travis (Tina) Kasa, Lauren Kasa; great-grandchildren Niklas Kasa, Elise Kasa, Savea Kasa, Justin Kasa, Evan Kasa, Ana Baron, Max Copeland, Kira Copeland, Tommy Lofgren Jr., Miles Lofgren, Eva Baron, James Baron and Wyatt Kasa; siblings Norliene Wells, Elaine Urness, David (Sandra) Raabolle, Larry (Debbie) Raabolle, Betty (Chuck) Groth.

She is preceded in death by her husband Austin; granddaughter Ashley Kasa; brother Ron Raabolle and brother-in-law Chuck Wells.
