Joan "Joni" Taylor

Joan Taylor, age 86 of Cottage Grove, passed away July 14, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial service will be 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 20, 2023, at the Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S, Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Joan was born January 9, 1937, in St. Paul, Minnesota and grew up on the West 7th Street neighborhood. Early on, she attended Villa Maria and Our Lady of Peace and graduated from Monroe High School in 1954. She was united in marriage to Harold J. Taylor on February 9, 1957, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. They built their home in Cottage Grove in 1958 and moved in the following year.

In her early years of raising their boys, she stayed active with their activities and served as a volunteer election judge for many years. She took great pride in her house cleaning business and cared for each home as if it was her own.

Joan's number one pursuit was loving her husband, children and grandchildren with all of her heart. They took pride and joy in the home that they established together and loved to fill it with life, love and laughter. Joan enjoyed socializing and was known as the first to arrive at an event and the last one out the door. Her great joy was in family travels, neighborhood get togethers and the parties that they shared through the years.

Joan was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn Spencer and brother Robert "Bob" Spencer. She is survived by her loving husband Harry; children Harold "Harry" Jr (Sherrie); David (Carri); grandchildren Tiffany (Aaron), Nicole, Crystal (Ben), Ashley (Jacob), Merissa (Joe) and Michael; step-grandchildren Mandy and Robbie (significant other Lisa); great-grandchildren Faith, Logan, Mariah, Pierce, Aria, Mace, Everett, Aurora, Cali, and Oliver; step-greatgrandchildren Kaydance, Lily, Preston and Lincoln; siblings Jan (Doug) Meyer, Jim (Ruth) Spencer and John (Cathy) Spencer as well as cousin/sister Judy Cognetta.
