Joan Cowan

Joan Cowan, age 85, of Cottage Grove passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022.

Joan devoted her life to being a wife, mother, and caretaker. Joan enjoyed playing games (especially Scrabble), cooking, travelling with the Men with Hope Gospel Singers, and hosting outdoor family cookouts. She was a loyal fan of Gopher Basketball and the Minnesota Twins! She also valued her fellowship with special neighbors, the Maher Family.

Joan is survived by her husband, Jimmie; children, Danielle (Jon) Ottman and Amanda (Adam) Coad; special nephew, Eric Brown; 4 grandchildren, Alyssa, Isabella, Coltan, and Blake.

Joan is the last of the Brown siblings. She is preceded in death by her twin sister, Jean; sisters, Erva, Lottie, and Elsie; brothers, Laurie, Bill, Russell, and Wilmer; and parents, Emery, and Viola.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Monday, November 21, 2022, at Hope Community Church (8300 Hyde Ave S, Cottage Grove, MN) with visitation beginning at 9am. A visitation will also be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th Street South Cottage Grove, MN) 4pm-6pm. Joan will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
