Jo Erickson

Jo Anne D. Erickson, age 80 of Cottage Grove, MN lost her 15 year battle with Alzheimer's on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Loving Care Cottage in Cottage Grove, MN.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday August 26, 2013 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

She was born October 8, 1932 in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota to Edward and Madge (Johnson) Harrington one of four children. The family moved to Robbinsdale where she graduated from high school in 1950. While working on the Wold Chamberlain Navy Base in Minneapolis she met Robert "Bob" Erickson and they were united in marriage on June 1, 1951. Following Bob's discharge from the military, they returned to Cottage Grove from Michigan where they continued to raise their family.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, cross stitch, doing crossword puzzles, bowling and even took flying lessons. Jo Anne loved playing piano and was always humming or singing around the house. She and Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time on the open road riding motorcycle. Charmain, her little furry companion could always be found near her.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Bob; son Stephen; parents, Edward and Madge Harrington; brother, Jerry Harrington and sister Terri Hagberg. She will be missed by her loving children Jo Anne (Brian Stewart) Lorenz, Robert Jr. (Candy Davis), Theresa (Jerry) Tweet, Mike (Denise) Erickson, Patty (Jeff Wiles) Erickson; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Charlotte (Bert) Strelow and other family and friends.
