Jo Ann Moore

Marilyn Joan (Jo Ann) Moore; maiden name Schneider, died peacefully at Saint Benedict’s on August 5th, 2023 in Monticello, Minnesota, at the age of 90.

Jo Ann is survived by her children, Gwendolyn (Peter) Newell and Douglas (Cindy) Moore. Grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) and Vincent. Two great grandchildren, Easton and Emmitt. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Bud) Moore.

Jo Ann was born on March 27, 1933, in Dresden, North Dakota, to parents Frank and Mary Schneider. She was the second oldest to five sisters and nine brothers. All were raised on the family farm in Mount Carmel, North Dakota. Jo Ann had many stories to tell, there was always a lot to do on the farm and helping with her younger siblings.

Jo Ann and her husband Bud, married Aug 22, 1959, in Mount Carmel ND. Later moved to St Paul and then to Cottage Grove MN. Jo Ann worked for the school district for many years. Moving from lunch room monitor at Hillside Elementary to an Assistant Librarian, to Principal’s Secretary at Park High. And later to Woodbury High School before she retired. Jo Ann was accomplished at speed typing and stenography. She was an active member of Saint Rita’s Church, before moving to Monticello.

A funeral will be August 30 at Saint Rita’s Catholic Church, 8694 80th St S, Cottage Grove MN with visitation 10am to 11. Mass will be held at 11, with lunch to follow. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Aug 31st at 9am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jo Ann’s life.
