Jim Bourasa, 74 of Cottage Grove died Sunday morning April 19, 2009, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday April 24, 2009 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in St. Paul Park with the Reverend Greg Esty officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 8 pm on Thursday at the Kok Funeral Home in St. Paul Park.
James P. Bourasa was born September 9, 1934 in Taylors Falls, Minnesota. The son of Phillip J. and Marie (Beckrich) Bourasa. He was raised and educated in Taylors Falls graduating from high school in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Army and served for two years. He was united in marriage to Lou Luken on September 7, 1957 in West St. Paul. The couple made their home in St. Paul and in 1959 moved to Cottage Grove. Jim worked for Schmidt Brewery for 30 years and in 1990 for Metropolitan Waste retiring in 1998. He especially enjoyed his family, loved the outdoors, golfing, camping, fishing and in later years cooking.
He is survived by his wife, Lou of Cottage Grove, sons; Kevin of Cottage Grove, Scott (Sandy) of Prescott, Terry of St. Paul Park, Tim (Lisa) Bourasa of Rochester, grandchildren; Kyle, Shane, Heather & Hillary, brothers; Butch (Charlotte) of Taylors Falls, Gene (Gloria) Bourasa Almelund, MN sister, Judy (Mort) Ford of Lindstrom. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Mike & Tom
