Janet Schultz

Janet B. Schultz, age 80 of Eagan, formerly of St. Paul Park, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2016 at Woodlyn Heights in Inver Grove Heights.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at All Saint's Lutheran Church, 8100 Belden Blvd. S., Cottage Grove. Visitation will be Monday, 5-8 pm, December 26, 2016 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove and also one hour prior to the service at church. Burial at General Lutheran Cemetery, South St. Paul. Memorials are preferred to Bridging or The MS Society.

Janet B. (Powers) Schultz was born August 30, 1936 at the family's home in South St. Paul, Minnesota to Howard and Lillian (Barg) Powers. She met Richard Schultz while in confirmation class at Grace Lutheran and they were united in marriage a few years later on September 17, 1955. They lived above Joe's Bakery in South St. Paul before moving to St. Paul Park in the early 1960's. Janet kept busy with her children's activities and stayed connected with other moms in the community as they grew up. Janet and Richard spent several years enjoying their cabin on Smith Lake in Garrison and also winter months in Florida. In 2000 they made their home in Eagan.

She always put her family first and enjoyed the simple things in life such as going to lunch with her family or going on a drive around town. Janet also enjoyed fishing, playing cards, spending time with her grandchildren and attending their musical performances and sporting events. She was a proud graduate of South St. Paul High School. Janet was an active member of All Saint's Lutheran Church as well as a volunteer at Bridging. Recently Janet was a member of the Woodlyn Heights Skip Bo Team and looked forward to playing games with fellow residents.

Janet is preceded in death by her loving husband Richard and daughter Patti. She is survived by children, Tim (Debbie), Mick (Diane), Joan (Bob) Gates and Jim (Karyl). She loved her family very much and will be especially missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
