James “Jim” Taylor, age 83 of Cottage Grove, passed away January 2, 2018.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:30, Saturday, January 19th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Cultural Hall, 2140 Hadley Ave. N, Oakdale, MN. Memorials are preferred to Shirley.
James “Jim” Taylor was born March 9, 1935 in St. Paul, Minnesota to George and June (Johnston) Taylor. He graduated from Murray High School in 1953 and went on to work at Buckbee Mears where he served as a quality control engineer for 40 years. Jim was a proud member of the “Geezers”, a group of high school friends who made annual trips to the Boundary Waters for many years. He loved his family and enjoyed hiking, camping, canoeing and visiting as many state parks as he was able. Jim was a charter member of the Cottage Grove Lions Club and also involved in the local Public Safety and Crime Boards.
Survived by loving wife of 65 years Shirley (Anderson); children Joanne Pommerening and Donald; step-mother Bea; brothers Ron (Joan) and Ken; sisters Diana (Dean) Perry and Marcia (Tom) Cabot; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents and sons, Dennis and Ronald.
