James "Jim" Lind
68 of Cottage Grove
Passed away on April 4, 2016 surrounded by loving family and friends. Jim was born to Martha (Schwartz) & Clayton Lind on June 7, 1947 in Burlington, Iowa. He grew up in Galesburg, Illinois graduating from high school in 1965. Jim's brother Larry became a new dad in 1966, so Jim took his draft number and proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge he worked for Burlington Northern for 42 years and in 2007 started working for Total Construction a job he was passionate about. You could find him having lunch everyday at House of Coats, biding at an auction, taking in a hockey game or just enjoying a road trip. He is the past Commander for the St. Paul Park American Legion, member of 40&8 and Ducks Unlimited. Jim is survived by loving wife Lois; children Kimberly Scollick (Tom), Melanie Lind- Ayres (Justin), Jamie Holtz (Jon); grandchildren Jeremy, Jordan, Emmi, Charlie, Anya, Svea, Soren; brother Larry (Suzanne); brothers-in-law Wilfred Krech (Mary), Walter Krech; sisters-in-law Kathleen Glassing (Donnie), Karen Taylor (Jim), Muriel Carlson (Bill). Preceded in death by sister Nancy Devine, Father Clayton, Mother & step father Betty (Milton "Red") McGilvary; parents-in-law Wilfred & Lydia Krech. Memorial Service 11am Friday, April 8 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church (1000 Portland Ave. St. Paul Park) with visitation starting at 10am. Interment with Military Honors at Newport Cemetery. Celebration of Jim's life to continue following the burial at the American Legion in St. Paul Park until 6pm.
