James Hanson

Age 75 of Cottage Grove has returned to the Lord.

James Russell Hanson was born June 29, 1937 in Hammond, Wisconsin. He was raised by his grandparents in Baldwin and graduated from Baldwin High School in 1955. On November 9, 1957 he was united in marriage with Sharon Ritchey at the Methodist church in River Falls. Jim worked at 3M, Ford, Lakeside Games, Ron Punte & Associates, Target and Best Buy. He enjoyed reading science fiction, and listening to polka music, traveling, fishing, golfing and watching Minnesota sports. Jim was an antiques toy car collector. He was an active church member.

Jim is the beloved husband of Sharon; loving father of Lori (Lou) Cowart, Jeff (Lori), Tim (Vicky), Brian (Gina), Mark (Tonia), Lisa (Mark) Wojtowicz; grandfather of Stephani, Jimmy, Heather, Chad, Angela, Michelle, Arielle, Lillian, Gabrielle, Ryan, Randy, Olivia, Valerie, Annika, Kathryn; great-grandfather Victoriah, Britney, Alexander, Devon, Breanna, Mason, Jadon, Julian, Jaelyn, Brandon, Alyssa, Jamieson, Madison, Gracie; 1 brother; 3 sisters; nieces, nephews & cousins; lifelong friend Kenny Lindquist. Preceded in death by parents Marion (Hanson) Amundson & Harold Hanson; infant grandson Benjamin.

Memorial Service 10 AM Saturday at NEWPORT UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1596 11th Ave. Newport.
